Erika Kohr Island is an artist based on the Northern California coast.  She began working in glass in 1996 at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, OR.  In addition to making fine art she has worked with many independent glass artists and production studios throughout the Pacific Northwest, including working on the team of Italian glass maestro Lino Tagliapietra (1999-2007).  Erika has taught glassblowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA, Firehouse no. 12 in Vancouver, WA and has worked as a teaching assistant at Pilchuck Glass School.  Additionally, her work has been published in a book entitled “Formed of Fire” published in 2002.  Prior to working with glass, Erika spent nearly ten years working in apparel manufacturing as a designer and clothing patternmaker.  Erika exhibits her work throughout the United States.
